Fortnite has just reintroduced a rare skin, Trench Raider, which hasn't been seen in the game since 2020. The start of September brought a wave of new and returning skins to the Fortnite Item Shop, but none had a gap as long as Trench Raider's.
Trench Raider, based on the Hector character model, made his debut as a featured skin on November 16, 2019, during Chapter 2, Season 1. After a brief reappearance on January 18, 2020, the skin vanished from the Item Shop, not resurfacing until September 1, 2024. This marked a staggering 1,688 days—over four and a half years—between appearances, solidifying Trench Raider's status as one of the rarest Fortnite skins in 2024.
Currently available in the Signature Styles section of the Item Shop, Trench Raider can be purchased for 1,200 V-Bucks. This offer will last until September 1 at around 8 p.m. EST. A recent leak accurately predicted the return of Trench Raider, along with Bravo Leader, another skin that made a comeback on August 30 after a three-year absence.
As part of the Fathoms Deep set, Trench Raider sports a sleek, futuristic black and gray bodysuit with yellow accents, complete with pouches for small bladed weapons and a communication headset. With Fortnite focusing more on collaborations and crossover characters since Chapter 2, original skins like Trench Raider offer players a chance to enjoy a more immersive and personalized experience, allowing them to create their own narratives.
In addition to the Trench Raider skin, players can also purchase the Rare Fortnite Backpack, Torpedo Tank, a yellow metal pack that matches Trench Raider’s style and includes mini-harpoons that align with the weapons in his hip pouch. Following the release of LEGO Fortnite in December 2023, many fans are also seeing a LEGO-styled version of Trench Raider for the first time, featuring the same iconic outfit in adorable proportions, complete with rubber duckie decals on his suit.
Trench Raider and Bravo Leader aren't the only skins making a return after a long absence. Just last week, the Mogul Master pack, featuring an alpine skiing skin, was reintroduced, offering players a chance to acquire a look that hadn't been available in the Item Shop for over 500 days.
