Excitement is brewing in the gaming community with a fresh rumor suggesting a new Bloodborne game might be in development. This speculation comes from an unexpected source and adds to the long-standing buzz about future Bloodborne projects, despite none of the previous rumors materializing amidst growing fan anticipation.
Released in 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4, Bloodborne is celebrated as one of FromSoftware’s standout titles. Its unique blend of gothic horror and Lovecraftian influences set it apart from the medieval Dark Souls series, capturing the imaginations of players and critics alike. However, the game’s 30fps framerate cap left many fans yearning for an upgrade, especially after the PlayStation 5’s launch in late 2020. Despite ongoing fan requests for a remaster, Sony has yet to announce any official plans for the Bloodborne franchise.
The rumor mill remains active, with insider DanielRPK now contributing to the speculation. In a recent post on his Patreon channel, DanielRPK claimed, "I hear there's a new Bloodborne game project in development." While he did not specify whether this project is a remaster, sequel, or remake, his involvement is notable. DanielRPK typically focuses on movie-related leaks, making his insight into the gaming world a point of interest, though it should be taken with caution.
DanielRPK has previously shared alleged concept art from an unannounced PlayStation Studios game, sourced from a casting call. However, he has not disclosed how he obtained his information regarding the rumored Bloodborne project, leaving some uncertainty about its credibility. As always with rumors, especially those about Bloodborne, it’s wise for fans to remain skeptical until Sony makes an official announcement.
If a new Bloodborne game is indeed in development, it might be handled by an internal PlayStation team rather than FromSoftware. Insider Jeff Grubb recently indicated that FromSoftware is not currently working on a Bloodborne remaster or PC port, suggesting that Sony could be independently advancing the franchise, given its ownership of the IP. Despite the game being nine years old, the enduring interest in Bloodborne implies that Sony may have plans to expand the series. Time will tell if this rumor holds any weight.
