If you’ve been keeping your eyes open for a next-gen Wuxia MMORPG that’s not just another cookie-cutter grindfest, Sword of Justice might already be on your radar. Known as the English version of 逆水寒, this highly anticipated title has already taken China and Taiwan by storm — and now, the global version is preparing for its debut.
As someone who's been playing on the CN and TW servers for months (maybe too many months...), I’ve got a lot to share. Whether you're into deep customization, cozy manor life, or just laughing at bizarre character designs — this game has layers. And trust me, I’ve seen some things I’ll never unsee.
When I first launched the game, I wasn’t expecting to spend over two hours... in the character creation screen. But I did. And it was worth every minute.
The customization system in Sword of Justice is insane — in a good way. You can adjust literally everything: facial structure, hairstyle, makeup, accessories, even the color of your eyes, brows, and lips. Want a soft, natural beauty? You can do that. Want to make a stoic warrior with a scar across his nose and white hair blowing in the wind? Absolutely. Want to create... some kind of cursed creature from your nightmares? Apparently, that’s a thing too — and some players are way too good at it.
Not only can you design your own character, but you can also upload your creations for others to use — and yes, download theirs too. I personally tried making my own “elegant swordswoman”... ended up looking more like a sad panda. So I shamelessly used someone else’s face data — and wow, the difference was night and day.
The best part? One day, I got a notification: someone liked my dyed fashion design and added it to their own character. I was ridiculously happy for no logical reason. Like, someone out there is walking around in my look. That’s so cool!
Customization goes way beyond your face.
In Sword of Justice, fashion is a lifestyle. You can mix and match outfits (upper garment, lower garment, shoes, accessories, etc.), and you can freely dye every piece. I spent an embarrassing amount of time testing different color combinations under different lighting conditions — sunset, bamboo forest, rainy street... yes, I went full fashion influencer mode.
Some players even create themed styles based on in-game festivals or real-world fashion trends. You’d be surprised how creative the community gets — and yes, some of them go viral inside the game’s social feed.
And then... there are the “chaotic evil” designers. The ones who upload terrifying clown faces, ogres with glowing eyes, or weird gremlin children. One time I joined a dungeon team and almost quit on sight. I thought: “Is this person okay? Do they have friends?!” But hey — respect for the confidence!
Now let’s talk about the manor system. It unlocks once you reach a certain level, and it’s surprisingly deep. You get your own land, and from there, you can plant crops, harvest wood, build furniture, and decorate every corner of your home.
I started with a small tea garden aesthetic. Then it turned into a bamboo forest retreat. Then... I got ambitious. Suddenly I was waking up at 3am to harvest rice so I could build a moon gate by the pond. I wish I were joking. I almost missed work one day because I had to water my radishes and log timber before reset. Madness? Maybe. But my manor looks amazing now.
Just like with fashion and face data, players can upload their own manor designs — full layouts! You can preview them, buy them, or even recreate parts of them. Some of the top players design full-on palaces or theme parks. Others? Cat cafés, graveyards, underwater hideouts... whatever your heart desires.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about walking through your own space — a space you literally built from scratch. No two manors are alike, and showing them off to friends is half the fun.
Of course, it’s not all about appearance. Sword of Justice has serious depth when it comes to gameplay. Whether you're a solo wanderer, a PvP god, or a dungeon raider, there's something here for you.
You can explore a vast open world filled with hidden treasures, stunning vistas, and dynamic weather. The main story — which we talked about in our previous article, Sword of Justice Global Release Date — The Wuxia MMO RPG You Can’t Miss! — kicks off with a village massacre and spirals into something much bigger... darker... and more personal. I won't spoil too much, but trust me: the emotional punch is real.
And with its innovative AI-powered NPC system, even your smallest decisions can have consequences. Like, actual consequences. But that’s a story for another day...
If you’re the type of player who loves creativity, roleplay, fashion, or home design — you’re going to love this game. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys building a little life for yourself inside a digital world, even better.
But let me warn you: Sword of Justice is dangerously immersive. You’ll tell yourself, “Just one more dye test,” or “I’ll harvest these tomatoes and log off.” Then suddenly it’s 2AM and you’re calculating wood production cycles in your head like some kind of fantasy architect.
It’s beautiful. It’s deep. It’s chaotic. And most of all — it’s yours.
Are you ready to build your legacy?
Or at least dye your outfit in 30 different shades of blue...?
