After months of anticipation, Stellar Blade has officially unveiled a major DLC pack that promises more than just cosmetic upgrades. In a highly-anticipated crossover with NieR: Automata, this expansion looks set to deliver exciting new content that fans have been eagerly waiting for.
While specific details about the Stellar Blade and NieR: Automata collaboration are still under wraps, the announcement trailer has already given players some intriguing hints about what’s to come. Alongside the DLC, Stellar Blade will also be introducing a long-awaited photo mode, enhancing the overall player experience.
When Stellar Blade first launched, many players were surprised by the absence of a photo mode, especially since the game's visuals and character models were such a focal point in its marketing campaign. Developer Shift Up had hinted that if enough players requested this feature, they’d make it happen.
Fast forward a few months, and the team confirmed that a photo mode would be arriving in a summer update, though its release was delayed. Now, with the upcoming NieR: Automata crossover, Stellar Blade will finally deliver this much-anticipated feature, allowing players to capture stunning shots of Eve in her NieR-inspired outfits.
The new photo mode seems packed with features, offering players plenty of creative options for capturing in-game moments. From lighting adjustments and character poses to customizable facial expressions, depth of field effects, frames, and more, this photo mode looks set to offer a highly detailed and immersive experience.
Fans of in-game photography are bound to be excited by the possibilities, especially given how detailed the character expressions and poses appear, going beyond what’s typically offered in similar games. This feature is sure to attract both casual gamers and seasoned creators looking to experiment with Stellar Blade's rich visual landscape.
Though Shift Up hasn’t revealed the full scope of the crossover DLC with NieR: Automata, some insights can be drawn from the trailer and the game's past content updates.
The trailer already confirms two key additions: at least one new outfit and a new location. In one scene, Eve is seen walking with the Drone before transforming into NieR: Automata's iconic character 2B, hinting at the availability of a 2B costume for Eve within the DLC.
Given Stellar Blade’s track record with releasing new cosmetics, it’s reasonable to expect even more outfits and accessories to be included in this DLC pack.
As the trailer progresses, players catch a glimpse of Eve stepping onto the edge of a building, gazing out over city ruins reminiscent of NieR: Automata's world, all while the familiar soundtrack plays in the background. This strongly suggests that the DLC will introduce a new area inspired by NieR: Automata, complete with its own unique atmosphere and possibly a reimagined version of the iconic city ruins theme.
It stands to reason that a DLC of this scale would also include new story content to give context to this new location. Without a narrative element, the addition of a new setting could feel incomplete, so fans are hopeful that there will be fresh storylines and quests to explore alongside the cosmetic and gameplay updates.
Shift Up has promised to release more concrete details about the DLC, including a potential launch date. While there is speculation that the NieR: Automata crossover could drop as early as October, the developer has yet to confirm any specific timing. If the release were imminent, it’s likely that we would have already seen an official date announced.
Regardless of the exact timing, this upcoming Stellar Blade DLC looks set to deliver more substantial content than anything the game has released since April. While previous updates have been well-received, this collaboration with NieR: Automata could take the game to new heights, offering a richer experience for both new and returning players.
Keep an eye out for further announcements from Shift Up as they reveal more about what promises to be one of the most exciting expansions for Stellar Blade to date.
