Niantic has recently teased that Mankey will take center stage during the November Community Day in Pokémon GO, sparking excitement among fans who anticipate the possible introduction of the move Rage Fist. This new addition could revitalize Annihilape, a fan-favorite Pokémon that has seen a decline in viability due to recent balance adjustments.
While the spotlight of the ongoing Max Out season has primarily been on the newly implemented Dynamax feature, there are plenty of other thrilling events unfolding within the game. For example, the Wild Area event is set to introduce the Safari Ball. As anticipation builds around what’s next for this enduring mobile title, Niantic has unveiled intriguing details about an upcoming event.
In a post on the Silph Road subreddit, user Spotty2012 drew attention to Niantic's recent teaser for the November Community Day. The developer hinted that Mankey could be featured in this event for the Max Out season. Fans quickly recalled that Rage Fist had recently been datamined, making it likely that this event will mark its debut in Pokémon GO. Annihilape has been a significant player in the Pokémon GO meta since its introduction, but a recent nerf to its Counter move severely impacted its effectiveness in the GO Battle League.
The energy generation for Counter was reduced during GO Battle League Season 20, affecting many powerful Fighting-type Pokémon. This reduction meant that players took longer to access Shadow Ball, Annihilape’s most effective charged move. However, the introduction of Rage Fist could remedy this issue if it generates energy more quickly than Counter. Some fans speculate that if Rage Fist has attributes similar to Shadow Punch, it may be sufficient to bring Annihilape back into the spotlight.
While the introduction of Rage Fist is promising for Annihilape enthusiasts, some players have expressed disappointment regarding the event. Mankey was recently featured in a Spotlight Hour, leading many to hope for a new experience this time around. Others have pointed out that they already possess multiple shiny Mankey, diminishing their motivation to participate in the event. With the community divided over the November Community Day, some players believe that adjusting the requirements for evolving Primeape into Annihilape could help appease fans for the time being.
