As we approached the release of God of War Ragnarök on Steam, we highlighted an innovative feature introduced by PlayStation and Santa Monica: the "Reduced Puzzle Hints Option." This feature effectively silences Atreus and Freya, preventing them from revealing puzzle solutions before players have a chance to ponder the challenges themselves.

However, it seems that this adjustment wasn't sufficient for some players.

A fresh PC mod, aptly named "Please Shut Up (Companion Mute Mod)," takes this concept a step further by erasing a plethora of unnecessary dialogue. The result is a more immersive gaming experience with less chatter and more enjoyment.

Over 2,500 Lines Cut from the Game

According to the mod's listing on Nexus Mods, a popular platform for PC modifications, the "Please Shut Up" mod has successfully removed more than 2,500 unnecessary dialogue lines, and the count is still growing.

The mod’s official description reads:

"Are you fed up with companions reminding you of things you already know? Does it annoy you when the game treats you like a child for not instantly solving every puzzle? This mod eliminates over 2,500 pointless and condescending voice lines from the game."

Among the examples cited are instances where Mimir alerts Kratos that he’s on fire or where companions advise him to block an incoming attack. Despite Sony Santa Monica's efforts to address these issues ahead of the PC release, it seems they didn’t go far enough. That’s where mod creator Mophead stepped in.

Mophead emphasizes that this mod is still a work in progress. While over 2,500 dialogue lines have been cut, there remains more to tackle. One of the challenges lies in removing puzzle-related dialogue that is interwoven with story exposition or cutscenes. This aspect will be a focal point for future updates, contingent on the mod’s popularity.

Overall, this mod proves to be a valuable tool for players looking to enhance their experience, and it is expected to be available for the foreseeable future. This stands in contrast to other mods, like the PSN bypass mod, which was quickly taken down due to concerns about potential backlash from Sony.
