A recent leak from Honkai: Star Rail hints at new details about the long-awaited character Sunday, particularly teasing his in-game animations featuring thorn-themed graphics. The popular sci-fi RPG by HoYoverse continues to introduce highly-anticipated characters, many of whom have enjoyed massive success upon their release.
Characters like Firefly and Acheron have established themselves as some of the strongest DPS options in the game, while others like Sparkle and Robin have become fan favorites for their support roles. However, one key Penacony character has yet to make his debut.
Sunday, a heavily rumored member of Honkai: Star Rail's Penacony cast, first made his appearance in the world's main storyline. Despite playing a major role and even appearing as a boss in the game, HoYoverse has not yet officially confirmed when the leader of the Oak Family will become a playable character.
Numerous leaks and rumors have surrounded Sunday, hinting at everything from a major redesign to specific elements of his skillset. Now, new information suggests even more about Sunday’s eventual release.
A recent leak from well-known HoYoverse leaker Ubatcha has sparked new speculation about Sunday’s playable version. The leak points to new graphical assets found in the game’s files related to “thorns,” a feature previously rumored to be central to Sunday’s animations.
Thorns have already been part of Sunday’s design since his first appearance, with thorned patterns visible on both his jacket and his halo. As of now, HoYoverse has not officially confirmed Sunday’s playable debut.
Since Sunday’s introduction, speculation has been rampant, with numerous leaks suggesting details about his release. It is widely believed that Sunday will follow the Path of Harmony and be an Imaginary element character in Honkai: Star Rail.
Additional leaks have hinted at aspects of Sunday’s gameplay, suggesting that his kit may include a unique mechanic allowing him to collect excess Energy generated by his allies. Sunday is expected to arrive in Version 2.7 of the game, which is anticipated for release in December.
Sunday isn’t the only character generating buzz within the Honkai: Star Rail community. Other leaks have hinted at the arrival of new characters, including the rumored Aglaea and a potential new form of Tingyun.
One of the game’s starter characters, Herta, has also been the subject of rumors, with many speculating that she could receive a five-star variant soon. With so many exciting characters on the horizon, upcoming patches for Honkai: Star Rail are shaping up to be highly anticipated by fans.
