NHL 25 is set to enhance the beloved Franchise Mode with a wealth of new features in its upcoming release. Over the past few weeks, EA Sports has gradually unveiled numerous updates for the 2024-25 season, promising significant gameplay improvements. Among these is the innovative "Ice-Q" system, which boosts AI for both teammates and opponents, refines skating and puck handling mechanics, and introduces more realistic collisions. Now, Franchise Mode, one of the series' most cherished offline options, is poised for substantial enhancements.
While modes like Hockey Ultimate Team and World of Chel dominate the online experience, Franchise Mode has consistently captivated fans by allowing players to assume full control of a team. This includes making trades, adjusting lineups, and managing team operations as a general manager. Historically, Franchise Mode has seen various updates, such as the addition of coaching systems and line chemistry. However, NHL 25 promises some of the most significant changes yet.
The latest "Deep Dive" trailer from EA Sports showcases the comprehensive changes coming to Franchise Mode. NHL 25 will feature a complete visual revamp, offering quick access to player and team stats, box scores from previous games, and much more. A major overhaul of the contract system is on the horizon, introducing "no-movement" and "no-trade" clauses alongside enhanced negotiation options with players. Additionally, new contracts will incorporate "modified" trade clauses, allowing in-game players to provide a list of teams they would accept trades from.
Another significant update involves the player conversation system, which has been revamped to help maintain team morale and facilitate new signings. Players will now have the opportunity to negotiate contracts with free agents, discussing details such as salary, contract duration, and expected roles on the team. This conversation system will also extend to interactions with the team's coach, enabling players to set preferred positions for specific players and fine-tune coaching strategies.
NHL 25 is scheduled for release on October 4, and its significant enhancements to Franchise Mode come alongside other notable updates. EA Sports is also refining the game’s presentation, introducing new camera angles and a "Grudge Match" system to track key matchups. With additional announcements anticipated in the two weeks leading up to launch, NHL 25 aims to deliver a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, promising an exciting new experience for fans.
