Mojang Studios has officially revealed that this year's Minecraft Live event will take place on September 28. This virtual gathering, which has evolved from Minecon, is anticipated to bring a wealth of announcements related to the beloved game.
Earlier this month, Mojang shared its vision for Minecraft's future as it celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2024. They announced significant changes to the Minecraft Live format, transitioning to a more focused biannual event that will no longer include the often controversial mob vote campaigns. Just over a week after these updates, the date for the next Minecraft Live was confirmed.
Scheduled for September 28 at 1 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Minecraft Live 2024 promises a fresh experience filled with exciting news. Owen Jones, Mojang Studios’ director of creative communications, highlighted that viewers can expect new game reveals during the stream. The studio has committed to providing several free game drops throughout the year, moving away from the previous single summer release model.
Fans can tune in to Minecraft Live 2024 via YouTube, Twitch, or the official Minecraft website. The livestream will be broadcast in English from Mojang's headquarters in Sweden, with translations in languages such as Simplified Chinese, French, and Spanish to be made available later. According to Owen, this upcoming show is essential viewing for both seasoned players and newcomers alike.
In addition to showcasing new content and discussing future updates, Mojang may provide further insights into the port of Minecraft for the Sony PS5. A preview of this version indicated enhancements like improved graphics settings and native 4K resolution support. As part of its goal to make Minecraft accessible across various platforms, Mojang has also expressed its intention to enhance the multiplayer experience.
The latest major update, titled Tricky Trials, was released in June. It introduced procedurally generated underground structures known as Trial Chambers, filled with challenging enemies and abundant loot. The 1.21 update also brought new items, weapons, and mobs to the game.
Mark your calendars for September 28, and get ready for an exciting Minecraft Live event!
