Fallout 76 Season 18 Launches with Exciting Changes

Fallout 76's Season 18 has officially kicked off! Launched in the early afternoon ET on September 3, this new season, named Milepost Zero, brings a host of exciting changes and additions to the game.

Bethesda first teased Milepost Zero in June 2024, and the content has been undergoing testing on the Fallout 76 Public Test Server since August 19.

New Legendary Crafting System

Season 18 introduces a revamped Legendary Crafting system, which went live after a brief maintenance period on September 3. The overhaul replaces Legendary Cores with a new method for adding Legendary effects to your gear, reducing reliance on random number generation (RNG). Players can now dismantle Legendary items for a chance to obtain Mod Boxes, with drop rates based on the item’s star rating.

To apply these mods, you'll need Legendary Scrip, with costs escalating for each additional mod, up to 1,000 Scrip. Crafting a weapon with a specific configuration can cost as little as 50 Scrip for three mods. Legendary Scrip functions as a currency, capping at 11,000, and while it can't be traded between players, Mod Box drops are fully tradable. Bethesda will automatically convert any remaining Legendary Cores into Scrip at a 1:1 ratio when you log in after the update.

Milepost Zero Scoreboard and Social Features

The new season also features "Best Builds," a social tool that allows players to share, visit, and rate C.A.M.P.s. Top-rated builds will be showcased across multiple servers, with popular C.A.M.P.s even appearing on private servers. Additionally, a new C.A.M.P. vendor history log has been introduced, making it easier to track transactions without relying on ephemeral notifications.

File Size Reduction and Update Requirements

The overall file size of Fallout 76 has been reduced by about 10%. However, to achieve this new size, players will need to redownload the entire game. The update sizes are as follows:

- PC (Steam): 82.07 GB

- PC (Microsoft Store): 96.53 GB

- Xbox: 96.6 GB

- PlayStation: 92.67 GB

There's no need to uninstall the game before downloading the Milepost Zero patch. The platform will handle the update process for you.
