Netflix Introduces Netflix Games Streaming Beta for UK and Canada Members

Netflix is expanding its reach into the gaming industry with the introduction of Netflix Games Streaming Beta. This beta program is now available to selected members in the UK and Canada, providing them with access to two games. The primary purpose of this limited beta is to test the game streaming technology and controller while also enhancing the overall member experience.

In an announcement made on August 14, 2023, Netflix revealed its plans to expand its gaming offerings beyond mobile gaming, which was introduced in 2021. This beta program in the UK and Canada marks another step towards solidifying Netflix's presence in the gaming industry.

The beta program includes two games: Oxenfree, an indie adventure game developed by Night School Studio, and Molehew's Mining Adventure, an arcade game that is a Netflix original. Users accessing Netflix Games Streaming Beta through their television can use their mobile phones as controllers, with the necessary app available for download on iOS devices from the App Store. Meanwhile, PC and MacBook users can utilize a keyboard and mouse for gameplay. Initially, the beta program will be accessible on devices such as Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, LG TVs, Chromecast with Google TV, Samsung Smart TVs, Roku devices/TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, and Walmart ONN. Netflix plans to expand device compatibility through regular updates to the beta program.
