Capcom has announced an exciting update for Xbox gamers: the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will be making their way to Xbox One. This decision marks a significant shift, as these retro gaming compilations were initially announced exclusively for PS4, Switch, and PC.
The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was first unveiled during a Nintendo event in June. Capcom followed up with the announcement of Capcom Fighting Collection 2 in August, both of which were set to launch on Sony, Nintendo, and PC platforms, leaving Xbox owners in the dark. This omission was particularly surprising given that previous Marvel vs. Capcom titles, like 2017’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, had been released on Xbox as well.
In response to the outcry from Xbox fans, Capcom has reversed its decision. The company will now bring both collections to Xbox One, following "technical discussions" with Microsoft. The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will release on Xbox alongside other platforms in 2025. However, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will hit Xbox a few months after its initial launch on September 12 for digital versions and November 22 for physical copies. Xbox players can expect the compilation to arrive sometime next year.

Capcom’s decision to include Xbox in the release plan for these compilations is a significant win for the Xbox community. This move ensures that Xbox players will have access to iconic Capcom fighting games such as X-Men: Children of the Atom and Power Stone through these remastered collections. For Microsoft, this means adding a substantial number of beloved games from a major IP to its console's library.
This announcement comes as a welcome relief for Xbox players, who have often faced delays or missed out on major titles due to exclusivity deals with other platforms. Capcom’s swift action reflects its dedication to fans across all platforms and hints at the possibility of more classic Capcom compilations making their way to Xbox in the future.
