Fans of The Legend of Zelda series have been buzzing with excitement over the announcement of Echoes of Wisdom. This latest installment in Nintendo’s iconic franchise lets players step into the shoes of Princess Zelda herself as she embarks on an epic journey through the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Revealed during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct and slated for a September 26 release on the Nintendo Switch, Echoes of Wisdom has been generating significant anticipation. Despite the brief lead-up to its release, players are eagerly scouring every detail for insights into what this new chapter will offer. A recent Nintendo demo at PAX West has uncovered a notable feature: the inclusion of Hero difficulty from the start.
According to Nintendeal’s findings, Echoes of Wisdom will allow players to select either Normal or Hero difficulty right from the beginning. Hero Mode, the more challenging option, will see Princess Zelda taking double damage from enemies and will remove health-replenishing hearts from the game world. This means players will need to be extra cautious, relying on evasion and other methods to restore Zelda’s health. Additionally, Hero Mode will deactivate some of the effects of Zelda’s accessories and equipment, adding an extra layer of challenge.
- Difficulty Options: Both Normal and Hero modes are accessible from the beginning.
- Hero Mode Challenges: Enemies deal double damage, and health-replenishing hearts are absent.
- Accessory Adjustments: Some effects and bonuses from Zelda’s accessories will be disabled in Hero Mode.
This approach marks a departure from previous Zelda titles, where the more difficult New Game Plus mode was unlocked only after completing the main campaign. In Breath of the Wild, for instance, players could access Master Mode after finishing the game, resetting progress and introducing tougher enemies like the White Lynel.
In addition to this new difficulty feature, fans have also learned that Echoes of Wisdom will support Amiibo functionality. Nintendo plans to reprint classic figures, including Zelda from Wind Waker and Link from Link’s Awakening, which will be available when the game launches. Scanning these Amiibo figures into the game will unlock new outfits and items for Zelda, adding even more excitement to this highly anticipated release.
