Excitement is mounting for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, as fans discover that the game will feature Hero difficulty right from the beginning. The latest installment in Nintendo’s beloved series, Echoes of Wisdom, allows players to step into the shoes of Princess Zelda as she embarks on a journey across the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Announced during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, Echoes of Wisdom is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch on September 26. Despite the brief period between its announcement and launch, anticipation has been high. Fans have been eagerly analyzing the Japanese box art for hints about what to expect. Recent insights from Nintendo’s PAX West demo reveal a new and exciting feature.
According to Nintendeal’s report, players will have the option to select between Normal and Hero difficulty modes right from the start. Hero Mode presents a significant challenge, as Zelda will take double damage from enemy attacks and health-restoring hearts will not appear in the wild. Players will need to either dodge attacks skillfully or find alternative methods to heal Zelda. Additionally, the Hero Mode will disable some of Zelda's accessories and equipment effects, adding to the game's difficulty.
- Difficulty Choices: Players can choose between Normal and Hero Modes from the beginning.
- Hero Mode Challenges: Doubles damage received and removes health-restoring hearts.
- Accessory Effects: Some effects and bonuses from Zelda’s accessories will be deactivated.
This marks a shift from previous Zelda titles, where the more challenging New Game Plus mode was unlocked after completing the main campaign. For instance, Breath of the Wild offered Master Mode upon completion, which reset the player’s progress and introduced tougher enemies like the White Lynel.
In addition to Hero Mode, Echoes of Wisdom will feature Amiibo support. Upon release, Nintendo will reissue Amiibo figures from previous games, including Zelda from Wind Waker and Link from Link’s Awakening. Scanning these Amiibo into Echoes of Wisdom will unlock new outfits and items for Zelda, enhancing the gameplay experience. Fans can look forward to these exciting additions when the game launches on September 26.
