Fans eager to dress their in-game Indiana Jones in the iconic outfit from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom will need to snag the Premium Edition of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Bethesda Softworks has teamed up with developer MachineGames for this highly anticipated release, first announced in 2021. The game was showcased in more detail during the Xbox Developer Direct Showcase in January, revealing that it offers a first-person action-adventure experience that lets players don Indy’s legendary fedora.
While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle primarily features a first-person perspective, the game will switch to a third-person view for cutscenes and exploration segments, showcasing a digital Harrison Ford likeness. Although the original Indy actor isn't returning, voice actor Troy Baker is stepping in to channel Ford’s iconic character, adding to the game’s authenticity.
To obtain Indy’s Temple of Doom outfit, players will need to purchase the Digital Premium Edition of the game for $99.99. This edition includes not only the base game but also several bonus features, such as the coveted outfit, early access to the game three days before its official launch, and the post-launch "The Order of Giants" story DLC.
For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, there’s an option to upgrade to the Premium Edition for $34.99, which also includes the Temple of Doom outfit and all other extras. Fans who prefer a physical copy can pre-order the Collector's Edition for $189.99. This edition comes with all the benefits of the Digital Premium Edition plus additional bonuses. Bethesda has indicated that the Temple of Doom outfit and other DLC content will eventually be available for separate purchase, though a specific release date for these items has not yet been announced.
This move to offer exclusive content through special editions is not new in the gaming industry. For instance, Star Wars Outlaws has already drawn criticism for locking a mission featuring Jabba the Hutt behind a Season Pass. As Indiana Jones and the Great Circle approaches its December 9 release date for Xbox Series X/S and PC, fans might have similar reactions to the premium content model.
