Since its battle royale mode took off in 2017, Fortnite has revolutionized the multiplayer gaming world. The game pioneered the seasonal battle pass system within a free-to-play setup, setting a trend that has influenced how post-launch content is delivered across most major multiplayer titles.
In addition to its regular seasonal updates, Fortnite has consistently brought its players exciting crossovers with well-known franchises, while also creating special events that celebrate real-world holidays like Christmas and Halloween.
Among these, Halloween has become a major highlight in Fortnite, with a history of delivering unforgettable content that captures the spooky season’s spirit. Although Epic Games hasn't unveiled the full lineup for this year's event, there are already plenty of clues hinting at what players can expect from Fortnite's Halloween celebration in 2024.
Halloween events have been a core part of Fortnite since its early days, with the Fortnitemares event making its spooky debut in 2017 and returning each year. Although Epic Games has yet to make an official announcement about this year's Fortnitemares, numerous leaks and rumors provide a glimpse into what’s in store. With the recent Doom Event wrapping up on October 5, all eyes are now set on Halloween, with Fortnitemares anticipated to kick off sometime between October 11 and 15.
This year’s Fortnitemares is expected to feature collaborations with some of the most iconic Halloween franchises, bringing several new character skins to the game. Players can look forward to a Halloween-themed variant of Marshmello's skin, as well as brand-new skins inspired by Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Billy the Puppet from the Saw series.
According to leaks, these eerie new skins will be introduced alongside a limited-time Halloween mode in Fortnite, featuring a unique Mythic item. This new item, known as the Billy Boom Bike, is said to be inspired by the iconic puppet from Saw, targeting enemies and exploding upon close contact. Players can also expect a range of themed quests tied to this mode, with opportunities to earn XP and exclusive spooky cosmetics.
In keeping with tradition, the Fortnite map is set to undergo a Halloween transformation this October. Early visuals from Fortnitemares 2024 hint at some of the game’s popular points of interest (POIs) being decorated with pumpkins and creeping vines. Additionally, classic Halloween items like the Pumpkin Launcher and the Witch's Broom are likely to make a comeback, along with other weapon, vehicle, and item updates to enhance the eerie atmosphere.
This year’s Fortnitemares is also expected to deliver a whole new array of Halloween-themed cosmetics, including new skins, back blings, weapon wraps, pickaxes, emotes, gliders, and more. Alongside the already confirmed skins from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw, players can look forward to more spooky collaborations as the event progresses.
Rumors suggest that characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas may make a comeback later in the event, and even if this doesn’t materialize, Fortnite’s unmatched ability to bring unique crossovers to life makes it highly likely that more surprises are in store this Halloween season. As more details are expected to emerge in the coming days, it's already clear that Fortnite fans have plenty of exciting content to look forward to this Halloween.
