The Forever Winter is a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic extraction shooter where players navigate deadly warzones to gather essential resources for survival. Set in the "Forever War," players must battle hostile soldiers and mechanical threats to ensure the safety of their settlement in "The Innards."
However, no matter how skilled you are, death is inevitable in The Forever Winter. Fortunately, losing your life doesn’t mean losing all your gear permanently. Although your items drop upon death, you can recover them by returning to the location where you met your demise. This guide will explain the process of retrieving your lost gear in The Forever Winter.
Upon dying, you’ll respawn back at The Innards. To reclaim your lost items, you'll need to head back to the location where you previously died—though you can choose a different entry point if it suits your strategy better.
Before setting off, make sure to stock up on healing supplies and enough ammo to withstand any threats along the way. Once you're in the vicinity of where you died, a tombstone icon will appear on your compass, guiding you to the exact spot where your gear was dropped.
When you reach the marked location on your map, your lost gear will be lying on the ground, ready for retrieval. Simply press the E key (or your customized interaction key) to collect all your belongings.
After securing your items, your next goal is to reach an extraction point and safely return home with your gear intact. Be cautious, though—if you die again before extracting, you'll have to make the journey back once more to recover everything again.
There are a couple of crucial points to keep in mind when retrieving your gear in The Forever Winter:
- The game only stores one set of lost gear at a time. If you die again before recovering your items, your original set of lost gear will be permanently lost.
- Successfully extracting from an area without recovering your gear will also result in it being lost forever. Make sure to prioritize retrieving your dropped items during your next run, or they’ll be gone for good.
By following this guide, you’ll increase your chances of recovering your valuable equipment and surviving another day in The Forever Winter. Stay sharp, pack wisely, and always plan your extractions carefully.
