For newcomers, Witchfire can feel overwhelming. Although the Hermitorium and the Island of the Damned are designed to help players adjust, the tooltips—both present and missing—leave much to be desired in terms of explaining essential mechanics. A crucial aspect that players may find confusing is the use of demonic ammo, which is often encountered during initial expeditions without clear guidance on how to utilize it effectively with weapons. Here’s everything you need to know about harnessing demonic ammo in the game.
One common misconception among new players is the belief that they can switch the ammunition types of their weapons. Unfortunately, this is not the case. All weapons, whether close, medium, or long-range, are restricted to standard ammunition. For instance, iconic weapons like the Hunger hand cannon and the Hailstorm sniper rifle cannot be adapted to fire demonic bullets. So, how can you actually use demonic ammo in Witchfire?
The answer lies in the fourth weapon category. Within the game, you will find three demonic weapons: the Vulture crossbow, the Falling Star grenade launcher, and the Whisper stun gun. These are the only weapons capable of utilizing demonic ammo.
It's worth noting that only the Saint class begins the game with a demonic weapon. Other classes will need to progress and unlock the ability to research demonic weapons through the Workshop in the Hermitorium.
Additionally, while demonic weapons are among the most powerful in Witchfire, they are often low on ammunition. This means you must be strategic and make every shot count, as demonic weapons cannot utilize standard ammo.
To locate additional demonic ammo, start by checking your map for nearby ammo chests. These are marked with the standard ammo icon but also contain demonic bullets. Furthermore, regular treasure chests may yield extra ammunition as a potential drop. If you find a Supply Key, use it to unlock locked chests for even greater rewards.
To enhance your chances of looting more ammo during your expeditions, consider increasing your Luck attribute at the Ascension Shrine. This boosts the likelihood that chests will contain ammo and increases the chances that defeated enemies will drop additional ammo.
Another option for obtaining demonic ammo packs is to purchase them from the Collector. This vendor becomes available once you reach Gnosis 1 in the Hermitorium and offers various equipment and items to aid your journey. However, leveling up Gnosis also raises the game's difficulty, so ensure you are comfortable clearing the first map, the Island of the Damned, before proceeding.
Finally, consider unlocking the Phantom Bullets Arcana. This adds a small chance for missed bullets to "rematerialize" back in your magazine. Additionally, the Cornucopia spell regenerates the last bullet fired, but be aware that this does not apply to demonic weapons. It’s important to clarify this, as some players might erroneously assume that spamming their demonic crossbow will yield additional ammo due to the spell.
Navigating the use of demonic ammo in Witchfire requires an understanding of specific weapon mechanics and resource management. By mastering these aspects, you can enhance your gameplay experience and make the most of the powerful demonic weapons at your disposal. Stay strategic and enjoy your adventures in this thrilling world!
