Square Enix has shared exciting insights into what players can anticipate for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth when it receives its PlayStation 5 Pro upgrade on November 7. During the announcement of the PS5 Pro, several games were highlighted that would benefit from the enhanced hardware, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stood out as a key title, being one of the year’s most acclaimed releases and currently a PS5 exclusive.
The showcases for the PS5 Pro have prominently featured Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, signaling its significant advantages from the upgraded console. While the presentations generated a lot of buzz, specifics about what the upgrade entails remained somewhat vague—until now. Square Enix has finally detailed the enhancements players can expect.
Confirmed by Square Enix, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will utilize the increased capabilities of the PS5 Pro through a new feature dubbed Enhanced Mode. This mode is exclusive to the PS5 Pro version and allows players to experience a combination of Performance Mode and Graphics Mode. As a result, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will run at 60 frames per second (FPS) while achieving a resolution comparable to Graphics Mode, utilizing cutting-edge PSSR technology. It's worth noting that the graphical modes may still be adjusted prior to the PS5 Pro update's launch.
The primary takeaway is that the PS5 Pro will allow players to experience Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with unparalleled graphics and performance. Square Enix asserts that the PS5 Pro will enhance "all aspects" of the game, from the expansive open world to its dynamic combat and poignant cutscenes.
However, the decision for Final Fantasy enthusiasts lies in whether the PS5 Pro’s hefty price tag is justified for the ultimate FF7 Rebirth experience. Priced at $699.99 upon release, the PS5 Pro will be the most expensive PlayStation console yet (though not when adjusted for inflation). Beyond Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, numerous other PS5 titles will also receive upgrades, but it remains to be seen how many players will feel these enhancements are worth the investment.
Additionally, while Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is currently exclusive to PlayStation, there are indications that it may eventually be available on PC and Xbox, which fans should keep in mind as they consider their options.
